Essential oils can offer some incredible benefits, but can they replace more potent compounds? Even more, are essential oils a good addition to your skincare routine?
Today we’re diving into these two heavy hitting questions and looking specifically at the Noche Y Dia Vitamin C Serum, to see how they incorporate essential oils into their skincare products.

We’ll also be looking at their formula specifically as well as the experiences that users have had with this essential oil-based serum. So without further adieu, let’s jump right in!
Behind the Brand
Noche Y Dia is a cruelty free skincare brand that first gained success through selling their products through Amazon. Today they have a full skincare range that includes two different ranges: Vitamin C and Caviar.
This brand sources all of their ingredients from spain, and do refer to themselves as a natural skincare brand. Today you can purchase their products through Amazon as well as on their own website and Epilepsy.
Noche Y Dia Vitamin C Serum
Looking more closely at their Vitamin C line and in particular, the Vitamin C serum itself is designed to eliminate sun and age spots, heal blemishes, lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as increase radiance.
Additionally, the essential oils in this formula help to absorb excess sebum for those with oily skin, detoxify, reduce the appearance of under eye circles and moisturize the skin.
Additionally, if you’re looking for similar products in other forms, they also have a Vitamin C Cleansing Water and the Pure Vitamin C Revitalizing Cream available.
Inside the Ingredients List
With all of that said, there are some things to be aware of when it comes to this formula specifically. First and foremost, there is actually no active vitamin C in this product.
On the ingredients list, there is no mention of ascorbic acid, also known as pure vitamin C or any of the vitamin C esters that have been shown in studies to replicate some of the effects of pure vitamin C.
Instead of vitamin C or its derivatives, this formula contains citrus ingredients as well as orange peel, lemon and kiwi essential oils. While these oils do offer a few benefits, which we’ll cover in a moment, the amount of vitamin C that they offer is very small.
Within the skincare industry, the gold standard for effective vitamin C is at least 15% L-ascorbic Acid, with its derivatives being a close second. Essential oils will not reach anywhere near that percentage, so if you do see any of the typical benefits from this product, it will most likely be because of the essential oils instead of the presence of vitamin C.
The other issue that some may have with the ingredients list for this product is the inclusion of silicones. The first three ingredients are all different forms of silicone. These ingredients are technically natural, as silicones typically come from sand, but most natural skincare lovers do not use silicones in their preferred skincare routines.
Additionally there are two dyes in this formula that give this serum it’s orangey color.
Finally, when it comes to essential oils, it’s a bit of a double-edged sword. One the one hand, essential oils can offer some exceptional skin care benefits and are predominantly featured in some of the most popular green beauty brands.
On the other, these can be incredibly sensitizing for those with sensitive skin. Essential oils are made up of hundreds of compounds in most cases, so there is so much room for a single component to cause irritation. That can also mean that one brand of essential oils may not cause a reaction while another does.
So in general, if you have sensitive skin, we highly suggest that you patch test any product with essential oils in the ingredients list before incorporating it into your skincare routine.
That said, essential oils, if you find that you’re not sensitive to them, can offer some incredible skincare benefits. The three that Noche Y Dia use in their serum is orange peel, lemon and kiwi.
Orange peel oil is great for reducing inflammation, using as a clearing treatment and eliminating clogged pores.
Lemon essential oil is great for evening out skin tone, oil control, treating blemishes and brightening. Kiwi oil is actually a carrier oil so it is less likely to be sensitizing, and is excellent for dry and dehydrated skin due to its alpha linoleic acid content.
Review Recap
Looking the reviews below, there are positives and negatives. One reviewer stated: “I like this product very much. Although, I was looking for a product that had Vitamin C and as I continue to read this product does not have Vitamin C.
I use Noche y Día day and in the evening and my skin feels great with it. I was thinking of ordering the Caviar they have listed. I would like to know more about the Caviar lotion they have listed.”
